Are you creating space in your conversations to connect?
We are all living in a fast-paced world, where technology is changing our conversations and interactions. We spend more time scrolling through our phones than actually listening. And why should we listen?
Listen and connect
We all want to feel understood and heard. We need to not just listen but also to create a space for a real presence, a connection.
True connection stems from the mindfulness of listening
For me, when I am coaching clients in communication, I am always very mindful to first listen. I know I need to create the space to listen in order to connect and understand. And then, I can nurture this space and allow for the connection to grow from the understanding and trust that naturally emerges.
Support and elevate – be heard
The space that I create to listen is not to critique the other, but to support and elevate. Because when we truly listen to someone they will always be more ready to listen to us in return. And most of us just want to be heard, to be understood and be seen through sharing our thoughts and emotions. It is at the core of human expression and connection.
Take the time to listen
The main reason why we need to care about listening more is the benefit of connecting and creating a common ground for the relations we want in our life.
We can all be more mindful of our presence in any conversation. Just practice the Dalai Lama’s wise words:
“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know.
But if you listen, you may learn something new”
So listen. Connect. React from the space of understanding and support. Start your listening practice today.
